Initially, when he inquired about attending this empty pursuit and was denied, he declined. However, later on, as the nobles who approached him exhibited greater stature, their assurances became more enticing, and their offerings grew more plentiful, he found himself tempted by them. Though he ought to have turned them down, he made the decision to ask once more, as if material wealth or presents could sway the Almighty.

Why did God initially instruct Balaam not to proceed and then later tell him to go (Num. 22:19-20)? It was due to Balaam's deception by the allure of wealth, leading him to believe that the Almighty might alter His purpose. Consequently, God allowed him to undertake the journey, implying, "Go ahead, since that is your desire; however, be aware that you will convey only what I decree."
