One Church Father comments on this verse

Ephraem the Syrian

4th centuryChurch Father

The name of the wife of Midian is Hazvi, the daughter of Surah, the leader of the Midianite tribe. When Hazvi was killed in her hiding place, all the Midianite women were struck with fear of that fate, dismantled their tents, and escaped. The chance for the children of Israel to stumble was removed, as the nets withdrew from the catch, to prevent it from being ensnared.
