The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Cyrill of Alexandria

The Lawgiver does not specify the types of sacrifices appropriate for the new month, the Sabbaths, the fast, or the Feast of Tabernacles in the book of Leviticus. However, he elaborates on these in great detail in the book of Numbers. Would you like us to explore this thoroughly, examining each aspect? Palladius responds affirmatively. Cyril then notes the Divine law’s affirmation in these passages regarding the necessity of offering sacrifices during feasts. It is important that, in every instance of these celebrations, we present before God the essence of our lives in Christ, akin to the fragrance of incense, dedicating ourselves to God as a pleasing burnt offering. As it is well articulated, "present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, for your reasonable service" (Rom. 12:1).
