Ephraem the Syrian
If she was once barren, she will receive a reward for her wrongdoing through the opening of her womb.
But if she be not defiled, she shall not be hurt, and shall bear children.
וְאִם־לֹ֤א נִטְמְאָה֙ הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה וּטְהֹרָ֖ה הִ֑וא וְנִקְּתָ֖ה וְנִזְרְעָ֥ה זָֽרַע׃

If she was once barren, she will receive a reward for her wrongdoing through the opening of her womb.
He then reveals that the virtuous spouse will remain unharmed, while the guilty and unfaithful will come to understand the weight of the oath when the womb is released and the girdle slips away. For in the very matters that led to sin, so will she encounter her just punishment. The oath should be interpreted as follows: when someone endures great and intolerable hardship, many who swear customarily express, ‘May I not endure the same fate as that person has faced!’
