When you invoke wisdom and reason, pursuing them as if they were silver or hidden treasure, you will come to comprehend the reverence of the Lord and uncover the knowledge of God. The foundation of a righteous existence is found in the reverence of the Lord. When this reverence arrives, it has the transformative ability to rearrange your inner being, restoring a harmonious spiritual order within you. How do you cultivate the reverence of God? It resides within you, albeit stifled; it needs to be awakened. To achieve this, articulate your thoughts and open your heart to embrace the truths that are being revealed. In light of Solomon’s perspective on the connection between reverence for God and wisdom, the phrase regarding the quest for wisdom—“You shall understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God”—should be interpreted accordingly: A true seeker of wisdom, who is deeply imbued with the reverent fear of the Lord and faith in the true God, will not only excel in wisdom but also grow in piety and faith. This individual will not merely uphold the fear of the Lord but will grasp its essence and firmly establish themselves within it.

They will gain the knowledge of God, a process that does not imply previous ignorance or lack of faith. Rather, it indicates that their understanding was merely in its nascent form. However, they will not rest content with this initial stage; instead, they will diligently pursue perfection, striving for deeper insight into the truths of faith. Ultimately, they will attain the knowledge of God in its fullest measure, rewarded for seeking this goodness with a genuine reverence and a sincere acknowledgment of their need for divine assistance, which will be graciously given.
