Theodoret of Cyrus
The Prophet prophesies all these matters regarding Zerubbabel, depicting him not as one who has not yet come into existence, but rather as one who has yet to receive divine authority. He refers to Zerubbabel as the East, for like a beacon of light, he illuminated those residing in Jerusalem who were surrounded by trials and the shadows of misfortune. He proclaims that he will fulfill the construction of God's temple, will take his place on the royal throne, will honor the bishop in every way, and will maintain such unity with him that he will undertake no action without his consent.
