The nations surrounding Judah launched an invasion with the intent of obliterating the kingdom and displacing its people. They led his children astray through their corrupting influences, including the priests, scribes, and Pharisees—his leaders—as well as the heretics. These nations prohibited the Gentiles from proclaiming and honoring the grace of the Holy Spirit in their genuine sincerity. This is the true significance behind the murder of Jonathan, which means "the gift of the dove." They also prevented the Gentiles from rightly confessing the glory of the Father, who embraced us not on account of our nature but through His own goodness.

The death of Amminadab speaks to this, for his name signifies "father in his goodness." Moreover, they opposed the faith in the arrival of salvation through the kingdom of Jesus Christ, as expressed in the death of Malchisua, whose name means "my King is salvation." I suspect that the philosopher who led Arius astray bore responsibility for Malchisua's death. Likewise, the death of Jonathan can be attributed to him who harassed Pneumatomachus Macedonius. And he who caused the death of Amminadabus was the one who seduced the Gnostic Mani. This assertion is based on the fact that the lord of defilement influenced Arius to reject the omnipotence of our King, Jesus Christ, and led Macedonius to deny the divinity of the Holy Spirit, while instigating Mani to blasphemously misrepresent the goodness of our Most High Father.
