His priests were slain by the sword, and the widows did not mourn (Psalm 77:64). It is noted that during the time of exile, the sons of Eli the priest met their end at the hands of their enemies. Among them was the wife of Phinehas, Eli’s daughter-in-law, who became a widow following a difficult childbirth. She passed away without any lamentation when death came for them all. One can deduce that many widows in the nation experienced similar fates, as this reality is encapsulated in sacred scripture. It is important to recognize that in the Holy Scriptures, every detail serves a purpose, and nothing is superfluous.
