It is commonly recognized that we possess a unique affection for children who arrive in the midst of trials that we have successfully navigated, a sentiment echoed in Scripture when it refers to ‘Ichabod’ and when Rachel names her son Benjamin, calling him ‘the son of my sickness’ (Genesis 35:18).

His priests fell by the sword, and his widows did not weep (Psalm 77:64). We find that during the time of captivity, Eli the priest's sons met their end by the weapons of the enemies. The wife of one of them, Phinehas's wife, who was also Eli's daughter-in-law, became a widow due to these events and passed away following a premature childbirth. It was as if she left this world without any mourning when death claimed them all. We must consider that many widows likely experienced a similar fate throughout the nation, as this reality is captured in the words of sacred scripture. Furthermore, we acknowledge that everything recorded in the Holy Scriptures carries significance and is not superfluous.
