Joy can easily deceive and lead astray those who lack vigilance. For instance, initially, the Israelites, basking in God's favor, desired the legal systems that governed the nations surrounding them, and in the desert, they longed for meat after receiving the manna. In a similar fashion today, by rejecting the reign of Christ, they choose to declare allegiance to the dominion of Caesar (John 19:15).
