Dimitri of Rostov

17th centuryChurch Father

David ruled over all of Israel and administered justice and righteousness to his people. As he worked to establish the internal order of the kingdom, which had been destabilized during Saul's later years, David's primary focus was to honor God, the sovereign King of Israel, whom he represented, and to serve the people. His life's mission was to embody the law given by God and ensure its observance among all his subjects. Due to David's leadership, his capital city, Jerusalem, remained for many years a 'faithful capital filled with justice.' (Is. 1:21)
