Christ not only prohibits sexual immorality and adultery but also condemns inappropriate glances, addressing the sin at its source to facilitate its conquest (Matthew 5:28). God approached the Jewish people in a similar manner, albeit in a more physical and pedagogical fashion as He communicated with those driven by worldly desires. How did He implement this? He forbade the intermingling of different types of working animals (Deuteronomy 22:10); He prohibited the consumption of blood from untamed creatures (Leviticus 17:10); He commanded that pledges not be retained overnight, thereby averting significant transgressions such as sodomy, murder, and acts of cruelty and inhumanity.
