In Deuteronomy, during the final address to the people, God, through Moses, proclaims that if they adhere to all His commandments, they will experience blessings. Conversely, if they fail to do so, they will encounter continual woes. However, should one turn back to Him in the face of His anger, he will be welcomed back into His grace. Even if dispersed, he will be reunited with the inheritance of his forefathers. Through these trials, “the Lord shall purify thy heart, - to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.” With this, God reinforces commitment to His law through warnings, while removing any justifications for not fulfilling it that may arise from the challenge of understanding the law or the burdens it may impose, which may feel like a yoke.
