The heartfelt devotion that marked the faith of the Israelites who remained steadfast to the Lord involved the exaltation of His name. This was not merely an acknowledgment of God as magnificent and great in His essence, nor simply an elevation of Him as their deity or the God of their ancestors (Ex. 15:2). Rather, they deeply experienced His glory through His magnificent acts, praising Him when He revealed His glory: “We sing unto the Lord, glorified be He... Who is like unto Thee... O Lord, who is like You? Glorified in the saints, marvellous in glory, doing wonders” (Exodus 15:1, 11).
