Ephraem the Syrian

4th centuryChurch Father

God instructed, ‘Let each individual request from their neighbor vessels of silver and gold’ (Exodus 11:2), for at the stroke of midnight, the firstborn of Egypt and their livestock will perish. A great lament will arise throughout the entire land of Egypt, akin to the wailing that echoed in the homes of the Hebrews when their newborns were cast into the river.
