In the ensuing discussion, it becomes evident that Moses and the elders did not ascend to the peak but likely reached only that platform mentioned previously, as indicated by D. Stanley in chapter 19. Here, the elders were tasked with establishing the meal that is required after sacrifices, specifically the peace-offering of thanksgiving referred to in Leviticus 7:15 and highlighted in verse 5 of our present chapter.
