Wisdom, which the Lord imparts to the hearts of every discerning individual, is the term used in the Holy Scriptures to refer to the understanding of David, described as ‘Wise as the Angel of God’ (2 Samuel 14:20), the wisdom of the prophet (Daniel 5:11), and that of humanity at large (Job 9:4). It represents the highest capability of humanity, with the purpose of distinguishing, in the fullest sense of the Hebrew, between righteousness and wickedness, thereby making judgments in both moral and physical realms about the course of action to pursue. In both scientific inquiry and artistic expression, it is not for humans to create anew; rather, they are to discern and harmonize from an array of thoughts, facts, and images through wisdom.
