Basil the Great

4th centuryChurch Father

The Almighty is not the deity of everyone, but specifically for those who have come to belong to Him through love; He is referred to as ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Were He the God of all, He would not designate these privileges solely to them. Furthermore, Jacob expresses, ‘My God will help thee’ (Gen. 49:25). Similarly, Thomas, upon recognizing the Lord, declares, ‘My Lord and my God’ (John 20:28).
