Jerome of Stridon

4th centuryChurch Father

She took her brightly colored garments and concealed them, representing the idols of humanity, so that all the attire she had been given for her purpose could be transformed into impurity. This parallels our actions when we cloaked heretical evil with wisdom, moderation, bravery, righteousness, and all other virtues, thereby misleading the unsuspecting who, upon seeing sweetness, fail to recognize the toxins of immorality. Further see v. 19.

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father
