All that I proclaim is indeed true, declares the Almighty. Therefore, regard this pronouncement as genuine: the Babylonians will tear down your fortifications and lay waste to your homes, filling the adjacent dwellings with rubble. The noise from horses and chariots will be so great that it will resemble the tremors of an earthquake shaking the city. Your belongings will be looted, and your residents shall face captivity. There will come such devastation that fishermen will find themselves drying their nets in your rivers, and activities typically carried out on smooth stones by the seaside will occur within you due to the overwhelming ruin. However, as stated, you shall not be utterly destroyed, for this is confirmed by the prophecies of the blessed prophet Isaiah.

This prophet also prophesied dire happenings for Tyre, yet he assigned a temporal limit to these calamities. He declared: Tyre will be abandoned for seventy years, equivalent to the lifespan of a king or a human being (Isaiah 23:15). After the completion of seventy years, God will bring Tyre back to its rightful place, restoring it to its prior glory, making it a trade hub for all the nations of the earth. It shall be bought and dedicated unto the Lord, as described (Isaiah 23:17, 18). Thus, the phrase, 'Thou shalt not be thrown down,' signifies a transformation of character; it implies that he will not be cast down due to his past wickedness but will instead embrace a new and entirely different path, one that, according to the words of the prophet Isaiah, will be consecrated to the Lord. This is evidenced by current events and the godliness that now prevails. For having turned to God from former enslavement and idolatry, he has been blessed with the light of true godliness.
