All that I proclaim is truthful, declares the Lord. Therefore, regard this prophecy as genuine: the Babylonians will dismantle your fortifications, demolish your homes, and fill the adjacent dwellings with rubble; the sound of horses and chariots will be so overwhelming that it will resemble a city shaken by an earthquake. Your belongings will be seized, and your citizens will be taken captive. Such a level of devastation will occur that fishermen will dry their nets in your once-flowing waters, and what typically occurs on smooth coastlines will instead happen within you due to the immense ruin. However, regarding the statement, "You shall not be destroyed," one may find reassurance in the prophecy of the esteemed Prophet Isaiah.

He also foresaw calamities for Tyre but restricted these woes to a defined period. He proclaims: "Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, like the years of a king, like the years of a man" (Isaiah 23:15); after this seventieth year, the Lord will restore Tyre to its previous glory, making it a hub for all the kingdoms across the earth. It will be bought and designated as holy unto the Lord (Isaiah 23:17, 18). Thus, the phrase "You shall not be thrown together" indicates a transformation in behavior. This means he will not remain entangled in his previous wickedness but will embrace a new and entirely different disposition, which, in accordance with the words of the Prophet Isaiah, will be sacred unto the Lord. This truth is demonstrated by present events and the godliness that now flourishes. For having turned away from former bondage and idolatry, he has received the light of righteousness.
