Establish yourselves in the land. This alludes to a solid foundation and a fruitful stay in the promised land, as noted in Leviticus 25:18-19 and 26:5, 12, contingent upon loyalty to the covenant with the Lord. You will be My people, and I will be your God. This signifies that the Lord will remain the God of the Israelites as long as He safeguards them and as long as they continue to be His people through their obedience. Historically, the Israelites failed to meet these conditions required to maintain the promised land and divine protection, leading to their loss of the land and distancing from God. Consequently, the Gentile Christians emerged as the new chosen people of God.

In this context, the promised land should be interpreted as the New Testament Church, and the people of God should be understood as those who are part of it. This passage is read during the feast of Pentecost because the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which signifies the source of grace, spiritual regeneration, and holiness, is the fulfillment foretold in verses 26 and 27.
