Abraham brought his concerns to Abimelech regarding the water supply. The seriousness of the offense of seizing this resource can be understood in light of the harshness of the Arabian terrain, which, as noted by Diodorus, poses significant challenges for those unprepared without their own reserves. Yet, Abraham chose to handle this grievance with forbearance, only disclosing it at times to emphasize that the preservation of his water supply is essential for maintaining harmony.
