John Chrysostom

4th centuryChurch Father

Upon hearing this, the servant was astonished by the young woman’s remarkable dedication. When he discovered that he was not amongst strangers but had arrived at the home of Nahor, the brother of his ancestor, he bowed down and worshipped the Lord. Filled with joy at this revelation and the maiden's words, the servant praised God, expressing gratitude for the immense favor shown to his forefather. He recognized how meticulously the Lord had cared for him and arranged everything to perfection, proclaiming: Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned my master but has shown him mercy and truth! The Lord guided me directly to the household of my master’s brother.
