John Chrysostom

Upon hearing this, the servant was taken aback by the young woman's diligent and remarkable behavior. He subsequently discovered that he had not arrived at the home of strangers, but rather at the dwelling of Nahor, who was his ancestor's brother. It is noted that he bowed down and worshipped the Lord. Filled with joy at the revelation and the maiden’s words, the servant expressed gratitude to God, acknowledging the immense favor shown to his forefather and the meticulous care taken of him, which had led to such joyful circumstances. He proclaimed: Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has shown mercy and truth, not abandoning my master. The Lord guided me directly to the home of my master's brother.

Upon realizing that she was the child of Bethuel, the son of Nahor, he offered gratitude to the Lord and entered their dwelling, where he remained.

Praise be to the Lord. The servant of Abraham expresses gratitude to God for a task that remains incomplete. However, he recognizes God's guiding hand in it and thus remains confident that it will come to fruition. It is through His mercy and faithfulness. The grace bestowed is linked to the plentiful promises given to Abraham, while the truth is found in the fulfillment of God's pronouncements.
