John Chrysostom

Observe the kindness of the just individual, who engaged with others without any bitterness. He not only helped them overlook their offenses against him but also welcomed them warmly. It is noted that he prepared a banquet for them, and they feasted and drank. Through this generous hospitality, he seeks to demonstrate that he has entirely forgotten the grievances they have caused him.

Ambrose of Milan

4th centuryChurch Father

Let us strive to emulate the goodness exemplified by Isaac and embrace purity. Isaac was a truly righteous and faithful husband. He was devoted to God, unwavering in his commitment to his spouse, refrained from seeking vengeance for wrongs endured, and showed mercy to those who wronged him, welcoming their repentance with grace. He was neither easily provoked by their stubbornness nor harsh when extending compassion. When he distanced himself from others, he did so without engaging in disputes; upon their return, he was quick to offer forgiveness, displaying an abundance of kindness. Those who sought fellowship with him were met with a joyful celebration.
