The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

John Chrysostom

4th centuryChurch Father

The Holy Scriptures indicate that they approached Him with immense fear, anticipating misfortune for themselves. Overwhelmed by dread in all aspects, they hurried to seek forgiveness from the just individual. Notice how there is nothing more powerful than righteousness, and no greater security than one who receives aid from on high.
