One Church Father comments on this verse

Ireneus (Orda)

19th centuryCommentator

Convinced that Job cannot dispute the validity of his assertions, Elihu takes the opportunity to closely examine Job’s claim that the Lord punishes him without due cause. He demonstrates that such a view of God contradicts our understanding of Him as the sovereign Sustainer of the universe. If the Lord were to act in a biased or unjust manner, there would be chaos in the world, and He would not hold back from punishing those who stray from the truth. His infinite wisdom, omnipotence, and compassion for those wronged ensure that He is just. Consequently, it is essential for humanity to submit to God’s will. Elihu advises Job to reconsider his perspective in order to guide him toward understanding the divine rationale.
