Procopius of Gaza

After they had forded the river, the waters returned to their original path, filling the entire basin as was intended. The enigmatic Jordan swells when the number of faithful is abundant, in line with the scripture: ‘Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, how they are white and ready for harvest’ (John 4:35). Furthermore, it is noted that the harvest is abundant, yet the workers are few (Matt. 9:37, Luke 10:2). This reference encompasses not only the harvest but also the fiery reaping, as spoken to the seventy (Luke 10:2). This imagery pertains to tangible sustenance.
