After assuring blessings to His chosen people for their steadfastness in their covenant with Him, the Lord warns them of repercussions for their unfaithfulness. The specifics of these warnings will be detailed in the following verses. However, in verses 14 and 15, the conditions under which calamities will fall upon the Hebrews are outlined. Such calamities will afflict them if they remain defiant towards God, refusing to heed His commands, whether they be moral, ceremonial, familial, or civil. The malefaction is exceedingly serious and cannot escape retribution. What penalty does the Lord announce for them?
