The Lord seemed to have come to this location after a significant period of absence; thus, the evangelist notes, 'when they recognized Him, they began to bring the sick.'

Upon His arrival at the shore of Gennesaret on the Sea of Galilee, news of Christ's presence swiftly circulated throughout the region. The villagers and residents from nearby towns hurried to bring their infirm to Him, laying them in the open spaces and pleading for Him to touch at least the edge of His robe, and those who touched Him were made whole. Jesus then proceeded towards Capernaum and soon reached the town.
