The Ammonites and Moabites are, as is known, the result of incest (cf. Num. 18:20-32), emerging as those who distort the true faith and undermine the doctrines of the Church fathers from whom they derived their beliefs. Lot's daughters, acting in secrecy and unlawfulness, violated their father’s sanctity (See Gen. 19:30-38). Consequently, the descendants of such individuals (i.e., followers of heresies) cannot partake in the Church of the Lord.

Those who renounce these heresies are already in a better position; they would have welcomed the children of Israel with sustenance when they departed from Egypt had they led virtuous lives and maintained righteous peace, offering the comfort of God’s word to those who had just escaped the chains of sin through the waters of baptism, akin to the restless waves of the sea, yearning for the liberation of their eternal home.
