Cyrill of Alexandria
When He had completed His work, resting after fulfilling the divine plan through His resurrection and ascension to the Father, He transformed the entire world, drawing countless worshippers to Himself. He declared, "When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all to Myself" (John 12:32). In this way, Moses' prayer foreshadowed the intercession of Christ, who, in human form, pleaded with the Father on our behalf, seeking the utmost good for us. As the beloved disciple John affirms, “We have a propitiation before the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous One; He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:1-2).
