My comments are aimed at those who thoughtlessly harass individuals distanced from the Church. If those individuals hold beliefs that oppose ours, we should therefore refrain from fellowship with them; and if their beliefs align with ours, we ought to be even more cautious. Why is this? It stems from the burden of greed. Are you not aware of the fate that befell Korah, Dathan, and Abiram? Were they the only ones to be punished? Did not their allies also meet with destruction? You might argue that they share the same faith and are doctrinally correct. If that is the case, why are they not among us? There is “one Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Eph. 4:5). If their faith is sound, then ours must be flawed, and conversely, if ours is true, then theirs is erroneous.

Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, who revolted against Moses and Aaron the high priest and sought to claim the right to offer sacrifices, faced immediate retribution for their rebellion. The ground opened up and engulfed them, while the anger of God also struck down not only the instigators but swiftly consumed the two hundred and fifty others who participated in their folly. This serves as a stark reminder that any efforts by the wicked to undermine God’s established order are ultimately against Him.

The insurrection arose from an overflowing womb, which often ushers in perilous and destructive outcomes. We often observe that a person becomes agitated and prone to wrath due to the evil deeds of others or through harsh language. This illustrates the situation with Dathan and Abiron, who inflamed the community and demanded recognition for themselves rather than for Moses and Aaron. Consequently, their punishment ensued, as they incited the righteous to anger, driven by envy that was well known to displease the Lord. This incident serves as a testament to the Lord's faithfulness, as He promises to safeguard His servants. The earth opened up and consumed Dathan, while the factions of Abiron were buried.

As recorded in the Book of Numbers, this took place before everyone's eyes, directed at those who, with the venomous bite of envy, sought to seize the divine favor bestowed upon Aaron and Moses, aiming to obtain for themselves the honor that they understood was a gift from God's mercy. Their end was a consequence of their actions; those who relied on earthly wisdom were swallowed by the very earth itself, providing a direct correlation between their fate and their wrongful deeds.
