The ungodly often remain oblivious to the wrong they commit, only becoming aware of the consequences that follow. Balaam chose to bring a curse upon the Israelites, but upon facing punishment, he recognized truths he had previously overlooked. The faithful are called to exercise caution against sin, enlightening their understanding beforehand. In contrast, the wicked gain insight only after their transgressions and subsequent divine retribution, coming to the realization that they ought to have steered clear of their actions.
