Additionally, I would like to contribute the following for clarity: in the initial listing of the Levites (Num. 3: 15 ff.), the offspring of Gershon were mentioned first, followed by the descendants of Kaath, and finally Merari (these represented the lineages of Levi). However, in the second enumeration that occurred after twenty-five years (Num. 4), Kaath was positioned before the others and named first, followed by Gershon and Merari, whose duties were to serve as supplemental to the Tabernacle. Furthermore, each of the two families, Gershon and Merari, consists of two distinct branches, while the preceding family of Kaath contains four divisions.
