I would like to offer additional thoughts to what has already been said, as it may serve to enhance understanding. In the initial census of the Levites (Num. 3:15 ff.), the descendants of Gershon were listed first, followed by Kohath, and finally Merari, representing the generations of Levi. In the subsequent census, which occurred after twenty-five years (Num. 4), Kohath was prioritized and named first, with Gershon and Merari following, whose duties were supplementary to the Tabernacle. Moreover, each of the two families, Gershon and Merari, consists of two distinct branches, while Kohath's lineage extends to four. Can you discern the deeper significance of this? Palladius.
