Debon, also referred to as Dibon, served as the encampment for the Israelites during their time in the wilderness. There exists another location named Debon, a sizable settlement located near the Arnon River. Initially, this area was occupied by the Moabites but was later rightfully claimed by Sihon, the king of the Amorites, and subsequently taken over by the Israelites, becoming part of the territory of the tribe of Gad. This place is referenced in the prophecies of Jeremiah and Isaiah regarding Moab. Atharoth, previously an Amorite city across the Jordan, was later allocated to the tribe of Gad by lot. This city is also associated with the figure Salmon, as noted in the Chronicles.

Aroer, a Moabite city situated on the opposite bank of the Arnon River, originally belonged to the ancient Ommim but was ultimately held by the descendants of Lot, the Moabites, after they eradicated the previous inhabitants. To this day, its location is marked at the summit of the mountain, where the river flows down into the Dead Sea. Aroer was assigned to the tribe of Gad prior to the city of Rabbah.
