Nikolaj Velimirovic

20th centuryChurch Father

O my brethren, the Christian teaching is the only reasonable teaching about peace and well-being. Everything else is madness and folly, for how could servants build a house on their Lord's land without His permission and support?

Vissarion (Nechaev)

19th centuryCommentator

The execution, determined by human courts in the temporal realm and by divine judgment in the eternal, represents just retribution for those who have harmed the innocent, specifically those vulnerable as infants, devoid of power and unable to defend themselves. The purity and helplessness of these young ones failed to instill compassion in the vicious wrongdoers, and thus, the divine justice will exact an unyielding response against them.
