Vissarion (Nechaev)

19th centuryCommentator

Alas for those who scorn the teachings of God's Wisdom; however, blessed is the one who heeds her call, for he will find refuge under the shade of the Almighty. He will remain tranquil, his heart untroubled by any impending adversity. He is confident that even when faced with trials, Divine Wisdom will transform them into blessings, assuring his happiness, whether in this world or in the next. Moreover, his inner peace will not waver in the face of the prosperity enjoyed by evildoers; he understands its tenuous nature, recognizing that true righteousness, which springs from following Divine Wisdom, brings goodness in all aspects of life, complemented by the assurance of both this present existence and the eternal (1 Tim. 4:8).
