Earlier he mentioned seven angels with the same number of bowls filled with the prayers of the saints. Now he speaks of bowls filled with the wrath of God.
The same bowls are said to be filled both with the sweetness of supplications and with the wrath of those who ask. Their source is the petitions of the saints for the coming of the Kingdom of God.

To the one, an aroma from death to death” (2 Cor 2:15-16).
