Andrew of Caesarea

6th centuryChurch Father

This is the mark of an apostolic soul. As he said in the Gospel, "He who saw has borne witness, and his witness is true" (Jn 19:35), so also here, after setting forth what he saw, he assures us that he himself saw and heard what had been foretold.

Aprinigius

6th centuryChurch Father

John, the most blessed of the apostles, says that when he heard these words, he fell down, frightened by the power of what was spoken and awed by the majesty of the vision. That is, according to his words, he cast himself to the ground to worship the angel of truth who was showing him these things.

Borodin P.M.

19th centuryChurch Father

The writer himself, John, confirms the trustworthiness of the prophecy. A similar testimony to the truth of what was written is found also in the Gospel (see Jn 19:35). Such testimony from the Lord's closest disciple and friend inspires special trust in everything written by him. John, carried away by what he saw, as before (see Rev 19:10), wished in gratitude to worship the Angel. But the Angel, as a true servant of God, wisely referred this worship to God.
