The Father shows that Jesus is His own and only Son when He says, “Thou art My Son” (Ps 2:7), and, “This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased” (Mt 3:17). Therefore the angels served Him as one unlike themselves.
They worship Him not as one merely higher in glory, but as one unlike all creatures and themselves. He is the one and proper Son of the Father according to essence.
If they worshiped Him as one surpassing them in glory, then everyone lower would have to worship the one who surpasses him. But this is not so. A creature does not worship a creature. The servant worships the Master, and creation worships God.

The Apostle Peter forbids Cornelius, who wished to worship him, saying, “I myself am also a man” (Acts 10:26). And the angel in the Revelation to John, when John wished to worship him, likewise forbids it, saying, “See that you do not do this. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
Therefore worship belongs to God alone, and the angels themselves know this.
