Let Tamar rejoice that the Lord revealed her name to the son born of her transgression. The name she bestowed (See Gen. 38:29) called out to You to come to her. For Your sake, noble women were brought low, You who bestow purity upon all creation! She has subtly taken hold of You in her own manner, she who opens the path to the kingdom. Life was grasped by her, and the sword could not bring about her demise. Ruth lay down beside the man on the threshing floor for Your cause; her devotion emboldened her for Your sake, O You who inspire bravery in all who turn back to You. Her ears turned away from the voices of others to focus solely on Yours. Like a smoldering ember that ignites, she approached Boaz’s bed, saw the High Priest, bearer of the hidden fire of incense (See Ruth 4:12).

She was quick to act and became a heifer for Boaz, who was destined to bring forth You, O Mighty Calf! She went to gather ears for her love of You; she collected straw. In return for her humility, You blessed her not with ears of grain but with Roots of Kings, not with straw but with the Sheaf of Life, which You brought forth from her.

They referred to Tamar because she, as a foreigner, bore Phares, from whom King David and his descendant and Lord, the Son, have their lineage. Ruth gave birth to Obed, the father of Jesse, who fathered David.
