Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

O my Bridegroom, You who gaze upon both spiritual and earthly beings! The incorporeal spirits, untroubled by earthly matters, continually contemplate You, yet I, encumbered by my physical nature, fear that I might separate from You. Therefore, as I await Your glorious return, grant me this longed-for call: ‘Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you’ (Matthew 25:34).

Ireneus (Orda)

19th centuryCommentator

While her brothers deliberate on the actions to take regarding their young sister's purchase and her deliverance, she dismissively reflects on their plans. She reminds them how they entrusted her with the care of Solomon's vineyard, which yielded significant rewards for both Solomon and his keepers. Yet, as she hears the voice of her beloved, she implores him to come to her swiftly.
