The enemy, depicted as a lion, is addressed by Peter who states: ‘your (or our) adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour’ (1 Pet. 5:8). Our Savior entered the world, witnessing Satan’s swift expulsion from heaven, akin to a flash of lightning (Lk. 10), and ‘there fell from heaven a day, rising in the morning’ (Is. 14:12). Furthermore, Banea, meaning ‘the builder of the Lord,’ came down into this temporal realm, which typically subdued the fiery waters, and triumphed over the lion.
