There is no need for further discussion, as the judgment of God is clear. Our actions reveal His assessment of us, just as they do with the Goths and the Vandals: while they thrive and prosper daily, we find ourselves diminishing; they abound, and we experience humiliation; they thrive, and we decline. The truth of God's word about Saul and David holds: David became increasingly strong, while the household of Saul weakened. As the prophet declares, "Thou art righteous, O Lord, and thy judgments are just" (Psalm 118:137).
