The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

You must "tell the dream to your servant, and we will convey it to him." They acknowledge their bondage, yet they are equally aware of their essence; they could interpret the dream if they acknowledged it, but they are unable to recount the dream that was shown to you and later slipped from your memory. Despite this, the anxious individual persisted, insisting on being reminded of the dream.
