During the siege, over a million Jewish individuals met violent ends, and approximately one hundred thousand were taken as captives. At a public celebration hosted by Titus, the commander of the conquerors, two thousand five hundred Jewish captives were executed in Caesarea by fire, wild animals, and the swords of gladiators. At a subsequent feast at Veritas, a significant number of Jews also lost their lives. Their leaders, Simeon and John, along with seven hundred distinguished citizens, were paraded in triumph to Rome, where they faced condemnation and execution as insurrectionists.
