Rabanus Maurus

9th centuryTeacher of the Church

The Church of the nations, guided by the teachings of the holy leaders, was resolute in safeguarding both her homeland and her people. Having been cleansed through baptism from all sinful corruption and idolatrous defilement, she could no longer endure the disgrace of her past iniquities. The Lord imparted wisdom to her, declaring through the prophet, "Hear, daughter, and see, and incline thine ear, and forget thy people and thy father's house. And the King shall desire thy beauty; for He is thy Lord" (Psalm 44:11-12).
